Mona-Marie Wandrey

College positions: Bye-Fellow

Subject: Philosophy of Science

Mona-Marie Wandrey is a PhD student in Philosophy of Science.

Her research focuses on managing uncertainty in consciousness science, combining her background in medicine with her interest in philosophy of mind and cognitive science.

Mona completed her medical degree at Charité Berlin and her MPhil in Philosophy of Science and Medicine at Cambridge. Before joining Magdalene to pursue her PhD in Philosophy of Science, she worked as a medical doctor in a neurology department in Berlin. Her research focuses on managing the uncertainty involved in ascribing consciousness to others, particularly in brain-injured patients with disorders of consciousness and non-human animals. In both of these cases, the capacity for conscious experience has profound implications for moral decision-making, which requires combining empirical and ethical considerations in an interdisciplinary way.
