Sator Squares
A sator square, an ancient 2D palindrome, was found in a 15th century Magdalene incunable. Its meaning is still debated, from clever wordplay to Christian symbol.
Magdalene’s Incunabula Season celebrates 42 early printed books in the Pepys and Old Libraries, with blog posts, an exhibition, and a project announcement to come.

Very sadly, we inform Members that Dr Finbarr Livesey (2017), one of our Fellows, passed away peacefully on Monday 2 September at the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge.
It is with great sadness that we inform Members of the passing of Dr Jeffery Lewins (1985), Magdalene Life Fellow, on 23 August following a stroke. His death is a great loss to the College.
Magdalene College Hall marks its 500th anniversary in 2019. Built in 1519 under Edward Stafford, it has been a central part of College life, with minimal changes over the last 60 years.
